"If you were taught that boundaries = selfishness, this is for you."
Growing up in a culture that prioritizes collectivism over individuality (sound familiar, Asian fam? 👋), many of us learned that connection meant abandoning ourselves.
The result? Two survival modes:
➊ People-pleasing to get your needs met (quietly resentful?)
➋ Harsh boundaries that push others away (lonely, much?)
Here’s the truth: Boundaries aren’t just what you say—they’re how safe you feel in your body.
If setting boundaries terrifies you, it’s often because you fear punishment… or losing connection.
✨ Try This Somatic Practice ✨
Close your eyes.
Envision a golden-white bubble around you—impermeable yet flexible. You get to choose its size.
You are SAFE in the bubble. The bubble protects you.
Feel your toes, legs, pelvis… How does safety radiate through you? How does it feel IN YOUR BODY when you feel safe?
Remember this energetic signature.
Now ask: What do I want to communicate to the world?
This is where boundary work begins: energy before words.
You need to feel safe before you can speak your needs.
